The sizing of fishes in the Singapore arenas are done visually. The fighters are placed side by side and scrutinized, the fish owners will then decide whether a fight shall go ahead. A bigger fish is certainly a stronger fish, therefore it is citical to seize size advantages before the fight begins. Sizing is an art, experience players will never give in and will try every means to look out for an advantage. Fishes come in different dimensions, some are taller, others thicker (viewed from the top) and last but not least the ratio of fishes' head size to body also differs. All these makes sizing complicated. The use of digital weighing scales to size fishes base on their weight has been applied in some USA arenas. All pictures and descriptions are provided by my American friend BanTang, who can attest to the feasibilty and fairness of such a sizing method. Whether this new sizing method is superior to the visual way is up to the individual to decide and conclude.

This picture shows the equipment required to weigh the fishes properly. The equipment are, a Digital Weighing Scale,2 containers(i.e foam cups), tissue paper and a fish net.

Turn on the Scale and set it to grams and not grains. It should read 0.00 when first turned on. Next, place the empty cup of water onto the Scale.
